Welcome Shaq!

Granted, this is the trade they should have made in February but I can't say I'm not excited right now. This will probably all end in tears but Shaq for the Corpse of Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic? You kidding me?!

I can just predict the 23/32 (or King James/Henry VIII) marketing strategy some company is going to come up with.

Anyway, I'm not really sure this is the best idea, aside from meeting the Cavs' immediate needs. They get no younger, and they certainly don't gain any speed. If you'll recall Sir Chuck's thoughts on the Orlando series, the Cavs were at their best when running the open floor. With 37 yr old, 350lb Shaq, you slow way, way down.

Yeah but the Cavs have never had the pieces too run so Shaq isn't slowing the team down, anyway. Critics of this trade aren't really thinking this through all the way. This absolutely fits the Cavs needs now and it doesn't murder our future in the process. What we needed is a dominant low post presence to matchup with Dwight Howard et al. and even 37 year-old Zombie Shaq is still like the third or fourth best center in the league.

And the Cavs gave up nothing for him. I mean, yeah, we still won't be able to guard the pick-n-roll but neither could Z so that's a total wash but it allows the Cavs to guard Howard 1 on 1 in the post which is huge considering the reason the Cavs lost was we kept leaving Orlando's shooters wide open.

Barring injury, this is huge for the Cavs.

I'd be more excited if this was 2000.

And the Cavs ruin all good will by selecting a Congolese middle schooler... I'm seriously fucking pissed off.

Biggest.... frontrunner.... ever. Both literally AND figuratively.

"If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a frontrunner." - Shaq, re: Stan Van

I can't say I actually disagree with you. Of course, when you have four rings you can frontrun all you want.

Although, his nemesis is almost as bad. It WAS just two years ago, he was threatening to throw the Lakers under the bus if he wasn't traded. I know Lakers fans don't want to remember that but its true.

Frontrunning aside, I'm down for this as well. I definitely want him to stay ahead of Kobe in the ring department.
